This is part of the Todmorden Boundary Walk on the 1st May, but this area below the old mine is very boggy and has a difficult stream crossing. Our task was to put steps in the bank and to dig turn byes to try and drain the path. The first task however was to carry tools and timber half a mile uphill through more bog!
Starting work on the stream crossing
Much easier to cross now. The bank on the other side is for next time.
Gerald dug channels through the bog on the path to help it dry out |
And discovered stones which could have been the original track.
Mick dug his way through thick grass above the path to try and improve the drainage.
