Ginny, Lynda, Ruth, Frank, Trish and Rich.
We came down to partly clear the car park which was full of silt, but also to help White Ribbon and do a preliminary recce of the damage.
The car park
The amount of mud and silt was astonishing. All the neighbours plus a whole lot of other people turned up to help. After we managed to rig up a couple of hose pipes we has watering, shoveling and brushing. Several of the drains were blocked and full of silt, but now all working (partly digging out and partly a blast with a passing power washer).

Just an idea of how much needed to be shifted
And when we decided to give up - not perfect but some normality for local residents
The depot
There was no power in the basement so we were limited in what we could do. The wood is all piled up to one side and all the trugs and barrels have been emptied. The tool drawers have been emptied of water and some have been taken away for drying and spraying with WD40 - we need as many people as possible to take home hand tools and do the same
Five bits of good news -
- We think the Calderdale Way survey ring binder is savable - Ginny is going to try and dry it out
- The 3 Calderdale Way survey bags are not too bad and Rich has taken them away to be dried out
- The spades etc are cleaner than they have been for some time
- Apparently there is a £200 grant available from the council, so if we have any other losses e.g. the strimmer needs stripping down, we should be covered - need to nip up to Mytholmroyd office to get a form
- The notice board is perfect and still in place!!
As for the rest of the depot, its a right mess but there's no reason why it shouldn't be partly usable by the end of the week.
The timber is now stacked up to one side so easier to navigate through the first room
All the racking is intact and connected to the wall
Afraid the new saw is a right off
People are going down Tuesday and Wednesday, so we should be able to make progress.
