Location : Pennine Loop, Colden
CROWS : Gerald, Alistair, Ginny, Lynda, Eleanor, Peter, Richard P and Terry
Tasks : Putting up 3 new waymarker posts, constructing a section of footpath, repairing a gate, uncovering a causey footpath and general cutting back.
The majority of the group started work on the cutting back.
Peter and I started on positioning the first marker post.
Post two was the first of two to direct walkers across where this muddy gateway is.
It was obvious from the outset that we would have to make a pathway across this gateway.
We did this by removing the mud, laying a series of stepping stones, placing crushed stone around them and 'cemented' them with the mud we had removed.
Post three was sited the other side of the gateway and signposted.
We thought it might be useful to keep evidence of where we got the stone from.
The final post was at an angle and the gate hanging from one hinge. We removed the hinges and the spring and then set about digging out the post to then reposition it upright ready for next time when we hope to rehang the gate.
This is the repositioned post, now upright.
There were some drainage problems along the causey footpath as you see.
The rest of us set about uncovering the stones. Gerald likes to do this up close.
