Balsam pulling at Redman Dam and the railway path at Ripponden

RAILWAY LINE AT RIPPONDEN

From the Ripponden end, there has been effective clearing in the past and the old railway track looks fine (and demonstrates the effectiveness of a blitz on a defined area) but there's a clear line where that stops and an isolated patch of thick balsam, followed by another cleared patch (and masses of balsam after that).  So we worked on the isolated patch. Two people are going back to finish it off for a couple of hours next week.

REDMAN DAM (HEBDEN BRIDGE)

This is what the hillside looked like to start with

By lunchtime we had cut a swathe through the balsam

To break the boredom we made a 'balsam' circle
