TODMORDEN - Something slightly different......

A group of 11 CROWS attended a one day "Outdoor First Aid" course organised by SPLAT (https://splattraining.co.uk/).

Most of the participants had previously had some (and often significant) level of First Aid training although for many this was some years (decades?) ago!

Some of the locations where CROWS work are remote and not easily or quickly accessible for professional medical help. For this reason it was felt important that as many volunteers as possible should obtain suitable and appropriate training.

This one-day course (based both in the 'classroom' at Tod College and in the woods above Centre Vale Park) covered the theory of outdoor first aid and provided intensive practice involving the decisions, techniques and skills needed in emergency situations.

The training gave us ample opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification and up-date techniques. The training will also help us to refine some of CROWS general first-aid practices and to consider any modifications needed in our kit.

then 2 breaths . . . then repeat!

Many thanks to Amy, from SPLAT, who provided a stimulating day which kept everyone on their toes (but mainly on their knees).

Just follow the voice instructions!

additional sheltering . . . but no prizes for
guessing which CROW has bare legs!

It was a hard day . . . so time for a snooze!
