Better weather than expected for Stella and Steve to follow up a report of two ladder stiles in need of repair on the path from Heights Road and Wicken Hill up to the Calderdale Way and Crow Hill. We had no rain, and fabulous views of russet moorland under low grey cloud.
Today's work was funded by individual donations to CROWS. Thank you friends.

| These ladder stiles are in a sorry state |
 |
Broken slats, rotting frames and very slippery
|
We did what we could replacing the broken slats and treadboards, and bracing rotten uprights. But both structures are pretty rotten, and don't have much more life in them. These stiles cross walls with no other crossing options. However, building new ladder stiles is no longer permitted. So we'll let Calderdale Highways Department know about these problems to see if anything else can be done.

But this is the state of the structures we were nailing in to. Hopefully a solution can be found.
