There were three teams out from Todmorden today:
Team 1: Ken and Neil Mc (welcome back) trying to improve a stile and fit a dog-gate on the route between Knowlwood Road and Lumbutts Road (Tod 209).
Team 2: Mick, Andy and David: installing yellow-topped marker posts on Tod 168. This route goes from Mankinholes to Withens New Road on Langfield Common. Probably not the best day to be attempting these repairs!
Team 3: Andrew and Ian V completed the installation of marker posts on Wadsworth 010 from Clough Foot over Sutcliffe Rough while RJ and Kasher were also working on cutting back this path. (See separate blog).
The work of teams 1 and 2 have been funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks for your help in keeping our footpaths open and safe for all to walk.
Team 1:
What started as a simple task to install a dog-gate, sort out the sheep netting and repack the stile uprights has now become a major rebuild! The stile posts were found not have been embedded deeply enough and were not really appropriate for use as side-uprights. These were removed and will be re-purposed.
We have not fully completed the rebuild so will be back to do this and to sort out the steps and track from Knowlwood Road to the stile. The stile itself, however, is safe to use and the fence line near the stile is stockproof.

Team 2:
The yellow-topped posts along this route needed re-erecting and other posts needed installing. This is an "interesting" route from Mankinholes to Withens New Road - it joins the "road" just above the bridge. It's a slightly damp but useful route especially when walking down from Langfield Common.
We decided to make sure that this route was well way-marked again before winter sets in . . . we just wish we could have had a slightly drier day!
