BLACKSHAW HEAD - PBW Strimming

It was another day of strimming on a section of the Pennine Bridleway (PBW). Today RJ and Kasher worked on Blackshaw 070 from Dove Scout down towards Jumble Hole.

CROWS have been contracted to strim and cut back a number of sections of the PBW and this should be our penultimate section for the year.

The main issues on the top section of the PBW are the brambles which snake across the pathway, whereas in the middle and lower parts of the route we were faced with towering stands of bracken.

Thankfully the weather was ideal for strimming . . . however it was also ideal for the midges which seemed to be out in force!

Many thanks to the residents of the houses at Dove Scout who allowed us to park near the start of today's work.

We will need to return to this section to cut back the overhanging trees as we ran out of time (and energy) to complete the job today. Hopefully, we will be able to sort this out in the next week or so.

Today's work has been funded by Lancashire County Council. Many thanks.

The lower reaches of the section to be cut back.

We managed to 'liberate' a number of marker
posts from the vegetation.
