ABOVE MYTHOLMROYD - Raw Lane and beyond

Angus and Rich went to fix some collapsed steps that had been reported. A previous inspection had revealed two were substantially rotted and another, at 12 inches, was far too high! The path is a well-used route between Raw Lane and Burlees Lane.

Then it was on to sort two drainage issues.

Today's work was funded by an individual donation to CROWS

These steps needed some TLC

At the end of the session

Two new steps to replace the rotten ones were installed and an extra step was inserted to reduce the twelve inch drop. A local resident (who had stopped using these steps) gave our completed work a trial run . . . she was satisfied.

Then we went further down Raw Lane to look at a drainage problem. Some digging out may be needed but we will have to wait for wet conditions to make a proper assessment.

Even further on, we tackled another drainage problem

Water was rising from under the setts and running down the path making it muddy. There was no clue as to the source of the water so we created a channel to run it into a nearby drain. At the moment, water is no longer running down the path . . .  but experience suggests this will need a recheck in wetter conditions
