We are starting to see the end of this big project which is funded by Hebden Royd Town Council.
Today, Angus, Jerry, Ken and Stella returned to complete the revetment at the Windsor Road end, and start on the repairs to the steep steps running down to the stream on its south side. CROWS originally installed these steps 10 years ago so they have weathered well in this wooded, damp environment on a well-used path.
We had a good day for it - some spring sunshine, a lot of birdsong, and the rain held off almost until we finished.

The new stretch of revetment

In places, the revetment runs very close to the steep drop into the gardens below. To reduce the possibility of erosion at this edge, Ken is putting a line of slates behind the timber and sinking them into the ground.

At other points, the edge of the path is already quite eroded. So once the revetment was in, Stella set to filling the gaps with stone.
