HEPTONSTALL - Drapers Lane (session 2)

The footpath (Heptonstall 051) starts at a gap in the wall on Draper Lane and goes down the hillside to New Bridge over Hebden Water. It is so steep that there are a great number of steps, and over the years the stone steps have become overgrown and the wooden steps have decayed.

A team of three CROWS started clearing and repairing these steps last week (see the blog of 19 February).

Today, Frank S, Guy and Kasher returned to this task to repair more of the rotted wooden steps.

It was a relatively dry day which was only ruined by the hailstorm as we were preparing to leave the site thus ensuring both CROWS and tools were wet through. Nine steps were replaced today. It will need a few more sessions before we can sort out all the wooden steps down to New Bridge.

Today's work was funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks to all.
