Ripponden Riverside Path

On a cold but dry day, Lynda, Stella, Rich, Angus and Jak returned to the riverside path. We were joined for a while by Tricia who gave us moral support.

Today's work was funded by Calderdale Highways.

Tools and materials, there's only so far a vehicle can go to access the work site

On the entertainment side, Rich's boot upper had decided to part from the lower thus requiring emergency treatment. Stella stepped in with the gaffer tape to bandage the boot.

Dr Stella administering to the poorly boot!

We approached the jobs from the Slitheroe Bridge end of the path. Lynda, Stella and Rich set to work on clearing the footbridge and making revetments for a path section near to the stone steps by the footbridge whilst Angus and Jak installed new steps some way further on.

The footbridge has been cleared and the handrail will need to be extended

Revetments

Two sets of revetments were installed to support the path where it drops down towards the river.

New steps

We installed steps on a steep, slippery section of path. Road testing was done by a small puppy who seemed very happy!

We will be returning to the riverside path for further work on the footbridge and more revetments.
