TODMORDEN - Grey Stone Lane

On a day which felt more like November than August, RJ and Kasher re-visited Grey Stone Lane. We strimmed and cut back along this very useful path (Tod 011) from Mount Pleasant towards Greystone Farm. We also strimmed a small section of Tod 010 which runs behind Chapel House. Many thanks to whoever had already strimmed the majority of this short footpath.

The path (Tod 011) was as overgrown as Back Lane (which we strimmed last week). Because of the state of the path, we did not complete all the strimming but we will return to do so as soon as possible.

Please take care when walking the upper section of this footpath as the drainage channels, the turnbys and fallen stones are all difficult to spot.

We also tried to sort out the drainage along this route but as the stream is used by cattle any improvements may be short-lived! We often comment that we see too few people when we are out working . . . . this time, by contrast, we saw too many cows . . .

Today's work has been funded by Todmorden Town Council. Many thanks.

RJ searching for the footpath near to Mount Pleasant.

All cleared - the lower reaches of Tod 011.

Brambles, nettles, willow herb, foxgloves . . . and wasp nests!

The wild, untamed, upper section of Tod 011.

Our visitors - the quality control gang!

We have made a start on the upper section . . .  and
the cows are already 'testing' RJs efforts at stream clearing!
