CALDERDALE WAY - Wadsworth

 WAINSGATE LANE FINGER POST

Four CROWS were out today at the top of Wainsgate Lane to replace a rotted fingerpost where the Calderdale Way crosses the junction of the unmade road leading to Slackhouse Lane. Ian S, Steve, Stella and Paul helped to transport, unload and erect the new post along with tackling a few minor jobs in the area.

The four-fingered post was positioned at a junction of paths near Old Town Slack Farm, signing the Calderdale Way to Midgehole one way and Bog Eggs Edge the other, while indicating the Bridleway from Wainsgate Lane to Slackhouse Lane in the opposite directions.

Work, including the cost of the new post was funded by friends and family of Tim Mihailovic.

Steve the prospector ...

Post well bedded-in!

In addition to this work, Stella with some assistance from Paul carried out cutting back of foliage around the site and dug out a silted-up drainage channel.

Drainage channel dug out.

In addition, a new cross-rail was fixed to a stile further up the Calderdale Way and a survey completed on a nearby field stile referred by the local farmer.

New cross-rail inserted.

All in all a good day's work.
