TODMORDEN - Inchfield Moor

On a June day enlivened by sunshine, rain and hailstones Gareth and Kasher went to Inchfield Moor.

The main task was to reinstate the marker posts along the "bridleway" across the moor (Tod 193) and to replace broken posts. While in the Inchfield area we also reinstated finger posts which had been pushed over by the cattle, cut back vegetation so that marker posts could be seen, renewed bridleway signs which had faded, tried to improve the small area midway across the moor where the causey stones were under water (and slurry!) . . .  and tried to avoid the large herd of suckler cows and their calves (plus an accompanying bull).

Unfortunately, the large information board on Inchfield Moor has seen better days so this will be removed and brought back to the depot for re-varnishing and for new legs to be fitted. Hopefully, we will be able to return this in a few weeks time.

Today's work was funded by Todmorden Harriers Flower Scar Fell Race. Many thanks.

The moor was dotted with large patches of cotton grass.

I am not blaming this particular cow for
knocking down the marker post and the
information board but . . . .

Causey path under water (and slurry).

The first of a number of posts re-erected today.

Hopefully, this post will remain vertical for more
than 24 hours but with a hefty bull in the area. . . .
. . . . one good lean is all it takes!

Gareth sorting out yet another post hole.
