Ian V and Mick manged to tick off a number of jobs today.
1) Watering the trees planted last year in the Guide Quarry area.
2) Installing a 'short' marker post at the bottom of Scaitcliffe Wood on Todmorden 082. (The previous marker post and its 'flag' have mysteriously disappeared).
3) Waymarking on the RoW (Tod 055) that crosses the new Havoc Mountain Bike Park at Portsmouth.
Today's work was kindly funded by the donation from Todmorden Harriers', Flower Scar Fell Race.
Details:
1. In 2022 seven tree enclosures were built in the Guide Quarry area and planted with a range of trees, some of which were donated by the Woodland Trust. The trees have all managed to survive their first winter but are now being watered regularly to see them through their first dry summer. At the moment they are flourishing.
2. CROWS have been replacing the long flight of steps near Flailcroft Farm. This is part of the route above Scaitcliffe Wood. When we went to put a "work in progress" notice at the bottom of the wood we found that the old fingerpost and flag had disappeared. We have now installed a short, yellow-top post. Certainly not as aesthetically pleasing, but it effectively indicates the start of the route through the woods.

3. In mid-May Ian and Mick went to check on the arrangements for the new Havoc Mountain Bike Park in Portsmouth. It was agreed that the main RoW should be more clearly way-marked. So today's task was to install yellow topped posts to delineate this path (Todmorden 055).
