On a hot sunny day Ray, Frank S, and Ian S went up Cragg Vale to repair a stile immediately beside Sykes Gate.
The stile had lost one tread board and one leg. The second tread board was rotten, and the other three legs were too flimsy for the wider tread boards we use now.
After several hours in the sun, we had rebuilt both steps, and the stile looked like this - much easier to climb than before.
