CARR LANE, PECKET WELL CLOUGH
Ray, Ian S and Paul tackled a stile in a state of disrepair situated down Carr Lane:
The stile's main upright posts and stile legs were rotted through at ground level so it was a case of dismantling the whole structure to start bedding in the new wooden posts. The stile is situated above Carr Lane accessed by an assorted assembly of uneven stone steps that meet the stile lip encumbered by two large boulders.

This rocky terrain exacerbated the work in hand; digging the required holes for the new stile posts proved difficult.
Old stile dismantled. |
Work began in earnest clearing away the old rotted material and recycling what we could to reuse on the new structure. Suitable holes were dug and the main upright post installed.

Once the main upright posts and stile legs were in place, the treadboards were nailed on.
Cross rails were added along with a new grab post. Then the site was tidied up.
