HEIGHT ROAD MYTHOLMROYD
Back in December Ian S and Paul surveyed the roadside entrance to Stoney Lane footpath off Height Road, opposite Foster Clough Farm.
It was a sunny December day! |
There is a gap-stile in the drystone wall leading immediately to stock fencing and through onto the descending Stoney Lane footpath. Some time ago the gate fell into disrepair and came off its hinges to be replaced by a couple of cross rails that are difficult to step over. We decided to measure up for the installation of a new gate despite certain technical irregularities.
Perpendicular? |
Our first task this morning was to construct the gate at the depot. Ian S produced a fine technical drawing of the gate and from this plan we cut timbers to size, screwed pieces together to make the gate. Later on-site we fixed the gate into position and realigned the stone step down from the road to enable safer access.
