Fred and Kasher had a pleasant day exploring the footpaths and bridleways off Lumbutts Road, Todmorden.
The first task of the day was to help with the clearing of a drainage ditch opposite the Shepherds' Rest. The blocked drain meant that after rains the small car park opposite the pub was flooded. We managed to unblock the drain and clear the drainage channel so that the water could flow. The drainage channel was clogged with discarded food containers and couch grass roots. After today's work this channel should remain clear unless there is an overenthusiastic driver!

3. The water is flowing freely now. |

2. The small bridge needed clearing. |
We then started our survey and sorting out waymarking etc on footpaths and bridleways coming off the Lumbutts Road. We have put up new way markers, replaced faded markers, installed a new marker post, cleaned flags on finger posts, cut back around fingerposts which were in danger of being hidden etc.

7. A new marker post installed.... it is vertical (honestly). |
The team had useful discussions with a number of residents in the area about a few paths which need to be "investigated" to establish and reinstate the definitive ROW. We will need to return to check out the following paths: Tod 173 and Tod 166, and confirm the definitive route.
Today's activities were funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks.
