ERRINGDEN - (Dick's Lane on the Pennine Way) and WADSWORTH - (Shawcroft on the Calderdale Way)

Erringden

Frank S, Stella and Rich tackled three jobs in the area.

New tread-board needed on a stile. This was first reported during Lock down in 2020. A temporary fix was done, but finally, after a long carry of materials and tools, we got it sorted.

One tread-board is OK but the second needed replacing

All sorted and tested by a passing walker

Walking back down Dick's Lane to the Pennine Way we re-secured several loose cross-treads on the boardwalks.

Finally, we moved down the Pennine Way to below Swillington. The drainage on this section is appalling. Hopefully remedial work will be agreed by Natural England, but the task today was to explore the source of the problem and to work out what resources will be needed to tackle it.

Wadsworth:

Wadsworth (footpath 053) The Calderdale Way up from Akroyd Lane

Ray and Paul continued working on the flight of steps started a fortnight ago on the Calderdale Way above Shawcroft Cottages. In contrast to last week's muddy endurance we beavered away in a spot of sunshine! We were joined in part by Dave our new volunteer who encouraged us from the side-lines. Four additional steps were built and the path widened at the bottom end. A fair day's work!

Job completed!

Ray showing off his bar skills!

Start of the day!
