TODMORDEN: DAISY BANK CLOUGH

 Daisy Bank Clough: Steps - part 3

In this ever-sunny serene corner of Calderdale, Catherine and Frank H finished the steps to the south of the footbridge installed at the end of March.

It was an idyllic day with the sounds of bird call, trickling water and whispering breeze being broken only by the clatter of a 10 kg bar ricocheting off the stone and highly compacted shale of very resistant ground. However, we persisted - the final steps were installed, tread areas for the whole flight consolidated and the bank edge landscaped.

Overall we have made the following transformation;

Clough bank before work started.

Clough bank after today's session.

We were very pleased with the outcome. The steps sweep up the bank even more gracefully than the picture suggests!

More next week when we may start on the opposite bank. At the moment it looks like this:

Mmm! Lots of technical problems here - especially near the stile where the ground is steep and unstable.

Still we have a week to come up with Plan A . . . and his alphabetical friends Plan B, Plan C etc!
