EASTWOOD: Duke Street

 EASTWOOD  Duke Street

.

Heidi and Mo set out to tackle a lovely stony path going down into the woods. First of all there was a drainage issue. The path was sodden but we found the culprit to the right of the path going down. An old drain was blocked there and it was pooling so water was running over the path.

They dug and dug to create a channel going down to join a bigger ditch with a wonky stone crossing. (They cleared that drain a bit too). They were very muddy afterwards, so no photos of the work party, they have their dignity to protect!

Not satisfied with that, they headed down the hillside to clear the brambles and expose a beautiful wide stone path going down into the woods and the two gas lights by the side of the path. Battery hedge cutter to the rescue!

There was a lot of earth and vegetation to remove so they set to with azads and spades to expose what was once a 6 foot wide path (or equivalent metres). They soon discovered that if they were to make it respectable they could only uncover half of the width today and return another day to finish. However, you can now see what a wonderful route it is from Eastwood down through the woods to the main road.
Two very weary women returned with tools to the depot to clean and put away!
