ACKROYD, PECKET WELL

Alastair, Nigel and Ken worked on a set of stone steps at Ackroyd. The steps were very uneven and a walker reported an accident to Calderdale Highways.
The steps were uneven and had clearly dropped. The top step was well over a foot drop making descent very difficult.

The steps before we started - note the huge gap at the top!

Bottom section rebuilt so treads are horizontal and pretty even
Finally an extra step was added at the top, making it a lot easier to descend.

Still rustic looking but a lot easier to use

A hard job completed
This work was funded by Calderdale Highways and great thanks for the owner of Ackroyd who kept the supply of tea coming on this cold (but luckily dry) day.
