Alastair, Nigel and Ken worked on a set of stone steps at Ackroyd. The steps were very uneven and a walker reported an accident to Calderdale Highways.
The steps were uneven and had clearly dropped. The top step was well over a foot drop making descent very difficult.

The steps before we started - note the huge gap at the top! |
 |
Bottom section rebuilt so treads are horizontal and pretty even |
Finally an extra step was added at the top, making it a lot easier to descend.
 |
Still rustic looking but a lot easier to use |

A hard job completed |
This work was funded by Calderdale Highways and great thanks for the owner of Ackroyd who kept the supply of tea coming on this cold (but luckily dry) day.
