RISHWORTH,

Rishworth Mill Ponds' Woods

Fred, Graham and Frank H returned to this delightful location for some heavy duty work to widen. the very narrow, slippery path above the river. This meant cutting back a rock face and dealing with obstructive roots. Here are a couple of 'before' pictures:

Before: Looking 'upstream'.

The general idea was to cut back into the main banking and use the spoil to build a protective low bank on the exposed side of the path. Here is a 'work in progress' picture. (Sunlight through the trees created difficult light conditions for photography!).

In Progress: Looking 'downstream'
Same point as in the above picture, but three hours later!

We were joined for the morning session by the landowner who gave considerable help with bar and mattock! Many thanks! In consequence, towards the end of the day the path looked like this:-

Looking upstream along a section of the path.
It is now wide, has a flat(ish) surface and a low
protective banking on the exposed side.
This route is much used by dog walkers. Over the last few weeks there has been much interest shown in the work and a lot of thanks expressed for our efforts. Today's hard graft was funded by the landowner to improve access to this idyllic woodland.
