A gateway on the Calderdale Way was pretty shot and ready to disintegrate. The access through the gateway was also quite awkward.
Ginny, Bernard and
Rich first needed to dismantle the existing gate and fence, which was quite easy as the posts were rotten at the base.

The old gateway |
Two new posts were put in and a new gate installed.
 |
Gateposts in situ |
The large randomly-placed stones were rearranged to form a set of steps.
We then added the old self-closing springs and some new waymarks.
 |
(nearly) finished job |
We will go up again and complete the job by putting some slats across the gap, putting back a noticeboard and reattaching the fence.
 |
Couple of days after - all finished |
This work was funded by Blackshaw Parish Council, proceeds from last years Blackshaw fell race and the Calderdale Way Association.
