HEPTONSTALL & BLACKSHAW

You might think it is sad that we have to work on Good Friday, but the truth is we didn't spot the date and when we discovered there is a chance to play with water and mulch, we just couldn't resist!

Gerald and Rich went to finish the remaining jobs on the Pennine Way Loop above Lumb Bank for Hebden Bridge Walkers Action.

The first job was to scrape the remaining mulch off the path and put in grips to take the water away in future. The bit we did a month ago is still looking good.

The last section to be scraped

After we finished
We then dug out 5 turnby drains to prevent the path from being scoured

Hardly a sign that a turnby was ever there!

That will catch the rain
The final job was to remove a shrub that had knocked over the wall, with the coping stones in the pathway.

Wind blown Contoneaster knocked had off the coping stones

All gone and the wall rebuilt

Meanwhile Ginny and Bernard were working on the path up Hippins Clough and later joined by Gerald and Rich.

Where there's a bog there must be some causey stones.

And sometimes even a drain

Bernard strimmed to help us find them.

While Rich was sure there was a hole there somewhere to divert the flow

But always look above you

It was a nice lunch spot though! And we were visited by a hare - a real treat.
