BREARLEY & SMEEKIN PIKE

Thanks to the help of Ian Clarkson, a local tree surgeon, we tackled a few jobs that needed a chain saw.

The first job was at Smeekin Pike where the view from the pike has disappeared. Thanks to National Trust for giving us permission and Wadsworth Parish Council for funding the removal of the trees to bring the view back.

The view from the bench at Smeekin Pike, sadly obstructed by trees.

Now you get the view

The rest of the work was in Brearley Woods where Nigel had identified three trees had come down, making the path difficult, but also potentially dangerous.

Tree crossing the path, in danger of falling on someone.

All cleared
A birch tree leaning over the path at a jaunty angle

A massive oak tree down across the path

Making the path pretty difficult

All gone, just the saw dust left

All clear to now use
