Where are the Crags? Folks ask
The name of the site: Hardcastle Crags Hebden Vale
A route to the rocks
Slurring Rock on
the old sepia postcards
The challenge was to slide down in one piece with Clogs for
runners
Change of plan, Site visit, plans drawn, CROWS contracted
Build a sustainable path to open up the higher views
Rock breaks the surface, stratified sedimentary, a former
river delta
Steps cut in the turf bank, crowbar and hammer sending
sparks off the quartz
Spot the Deer below, staring at us for a few seconds before
vanishing
Mewing Buzzard soaring in the valley flying above Mould
Grain and Lady Royd
Horodiddle, Walshaw hamlet and Alcomden
Hear the Woodpecker drilling for grubs
Or just the trees whispering, nature at its best
Birch branches plaited, stunted Oaks twined with Ivy, Hazel
with deer-grazed thin shoots
Compete with Molinia, Woodrush and rock to find a foot-hold
Smell the scent of Moss and Lichen, Bilberry and Bracken on
the breeze
A few more days work then access for all
Something to CROW about
