Task : Sorting out drainage problems on first section of path
This was the path to start with. As you can see it was boggy and wet on the left hand side and walkers had made an alternative path to the right, much nearer to the edge of the clough.
The one to the right you can see was full of mud and debris. We rodded this both from the top and bottom to remove the rubbish whilst the pipe was in situ.
We tested it with water from the stream.
The other piece of pipe we laid in a channel and connected into the other pipe.
We placed stones on both sides to give stability.................
............................and covered the area in a layer of mud.
The rest of the path we cleared down to bedrock and widened the path to make it safer.
We extended this widening to cover the whole area which needed draining.
A before and after picture, although it doesn't really show the work we put in.
Further down the footpath we widened and drained another area. There are still other parts which need doing, especially around and oak tree, but these will have to be done when there has been rainfall and the natural flow of water can be seen.
Second team of Ginny and Peter dealt with a stile and board walk off Shore Lane.

This was the path to start with. As you can see it was boggy and wet on the left hand side and walkers had made an alternative path to the right, much nearer to the edge of the clough.
We found two drainage pipes, one across the path and one to the right of the badly drained area.
The one across the path we removed, emptied and kept for later.

Stile was difficult to get over unless you're athletic!
