Location : Todmorden
CROWS : Gerald and Terry
Task : Step construction and footpath repairs down to stream
Weather : Dry, warm and pleasant
The grassy bank was wet and slippery. A few steps were required to assist walkers going up and coming down to the stile.
We filled the steps with broken stone from the river bed.
The area at the bottom of the steps was very boggy so we scraped off the excess mud and then put down a layer of broken rocks to provide a dry access to the stile.
At the top of the steps we scraped off the sodden grass and earth to reveal a hardcore surface underneath which would provide safe access to the top of the steps.
Over the stile we repositioned a number of the wobbly rocks providing stepping stones up to and down from the stile.
Finally, we made safe the route down to the stream and the handrail at the stream crossing point.
