Stella straight into the work of cutting back
In some sections the path needed to be widened.
Some sections were badly drained but Fred saw to that.
This holly bush had been a concern for LDW so we cut it well back.
This next section was very uneven with some large stones sticking up and potential hazards.
We dug up the stones, relaid them, widened and levelled the path.
A series of stone steps were relaid.
Another section was covered in a deep layer of mud and leaves. We scraped this clean down to the hard surface below.
The final job was on another section of the path (work not for the LDW) where Dick had noticed a tree had fallen across the path.
Fred set to with his trusty saw...............no contest.
Some before and after pictures:
HEPTONSTALL TEAM
Tasks for second team - clear path and sort waymark posts below Methodist Chapel, clear path by side of playground, waymark post and gravel path on Becketts estate.
Waymark post was completely obscured by an elder tree
(signs were also unreadable due to lichen)
Path to car park very muddy, did a scrape to find a good surface underneath.
Added some gravel to a couple of sections.
Path down the side of Playground was totally overgrown,
path strimmed and brambles cut back.
This is not meant to be an example of 'over manning'!
We also put in a marker post and sorted a couple of drainage issues on the path through Becketts Close, then made a start on the causey path on Pike Stone Bank. All in all, a good days work.
