TODMORDEN - Swineshead Clough

Two teams from Todmorden attacked Tod 209 from Knowlwood Road to Lumbutts Road today. This path goes alongside Swineshead Clough and, on a good day, you are rewarded with fantastic views . . .  unfortunately, today was not a day for bright autumn sunshine . . . but at least it did not rain.

This path is worth checking out. If it does not receive a little more footfall the steps will again get overgrown, hard to find and difficult to use. The path is easier to walk up than it is to walk down but the views are better walking down!

Team 1: Ian V and Guy were on "find the steps and then clear them" duties. They started at Lumbutts Road and worked their way down the hill to meet up with the steps cleared a few weeks ago by Ian V and Gareth.

Team 2: Duncan, Gareth and Kasher were on cutting back and step repairing duties at the bottom of the path, just off Knowlwood Road.

CROWS work on this path is nearly finished. All we have left to do is to replace the handrail at the bottom of the footpath. Hopefully, we can do this in the next few weeks.

Today's work has been funded by individual donations to CROWS. Many thanks for your financial help in making our footpaths and bridleways easier to use.

First find your steps.......

and then clear them . . .

Team 2:
Duncan sorting out one of the steps on the
lower reaches of the path.

Gareth sorting out another of the steps.

The footpath now cut back and widened.

It's very odd! The places one finds waymarks!
