The footpath known as Hebden Royd 068 winds up the hillside above Hoo Hole and leads eventually to Broad Head or the top of Daisy Bank. It is a sunken lane with steep banks on each side and trees all around that drop millions of leaves. The problem is that it also has a stream running down it, which has created deep sloppy mud, and made walking very difficult. The task for Frank S and Jan was to dig a narrow ditch alongside the path to channel the water away.
Fortunately, when we cleared the leaves and soft mud, we found a hard stony layer which was probably the original walking surface. The path will need to dry out a bit, but even now it is much easier to walk.
This work was funded by Hebden Royd Town Council. Thank you for your support.
