This was our third visit to the footpath known as Hebden Royd 036 that leads down from Bloomergate to Lower Ewood. To find it you turn off Midgley Road into the top of Brearley Lane and then immediately right through a narrow gate and down to the right of the old barn, now a house. This leads to the top of a lovely old sunken track between two walls. Previous visits had cleared encroaching vegetation and built five steps near the top where it was steepest. Unfortunately, five steps weren't quite enough and today's task was for Frank S and Ian S to add more steps to help walkers through the steepest section, which could be very slippery in wet weather.
The pictures show the entrance to the path with a little yellow waymark on the telegraph pole, the five steps completed on the previous visit, and two views of the finished job with eight wooden steps and a stone step right at the top.
