OLD LAITHE OLD TOWN / SHAWCROFT - CW
It was a glorious day to be volunteering outdoors for CROWS! Paul, Nick and Ian V were out and about working on two sites in the Old Town area. The first site was above Old Town village on the footpath from Old Laithe and the second site on the Calderdale Way up from Shawcoft Cottages. Both paths had suffered serious water damage from wet wintery weather.
Work funded by Wadsworth Parish Council - thank you.
Site 1: An old chestnut this one - annual erosion of path from rainwater pouring off the moor. A small section of revetment was installed to channel the water down the drainage channel away from the footpath:

Site 2: Another old chestnut that has been revisited over the years to repair and maintain eroded sections. Today two lengths of revetment installed to prop up an eroded section of banking by the stream:

In addition to this we undertook a couple of surveys nearby - footpath problems reported by local residents.
