TODMORDEN

There were three teams out from Todmorden today.

1) Ken and Frank H (and a few 'hangers-on'): replacing a gate at the top of a ginnel off Parkside Road, Cornholme. This is on the new Mills, Mines and Missionaries route developed by Vale Walkers (https://heartofthepennines.org.uk/mines-mills-and-missionaries-of-cornholme/) (see separate blog). Many thanks to a resident of Cornholme who brought the problem with this gate to our attention.

2) Mick and Catherine: checking out Scaitcliffe Wood (on Todmorden 082) and measuring up for new steps and revetments along this extremely steep route. This woodland route is included in Christopher Goddard's The West Yorkshire Woods Part 1. The team also surveyed other necessary jobs in this area.

3) RJ and Kasher: the start of the strimming season. We started by strimming the newly designated RoW from Pudsey Rd to Obadiah Wood in Cornholme, Todmorden 216. We then moved on to the first of the information boards on the Todmorden Moor Geology Trail (https://heartofthepennines.org.uk/todmorden-geology-trail/) and strimmed the original site of the stone crusher.

Today's work has been funded by Cornholme Wreath Making workshop (team 1); by a grant from Active Calderdale (team 3) and by individual donations from the public. Many thanks to all.
