On a beautiful spring morning, Jerry and Angus headed to Foster Dam to fit the last piece of revetment to a section of the footpath near its start at Lee Mill Bridge. It would seem that over the passage of time the roots of a tree on the other side of the path had forced some of the supporting stonework to collapse into the river.
Location of the revetment circled in red.
This was not a difficult job compared to the previous work of fitting a new bridge and boardwalk, replacing three flights of steps and several lengths of revetment. However, there was a fair drop to the river and we were wary of how we knocked the wooden stobs into the path edge so as not to disturb the structure of the bank; the stobs are used to locate the revetment and keep it in place.
Revetment dug in and located at each end with wooden stobs.
