Ken, Mo, Gerald, Lynda and Ginny out today doing a variety of jobs. Firstly we had to reach the Calderdale Way via this short, but overgrown, path above Butts Farm.
Soon cleared to reach an unmarked crossroad on the Calderdale Way where we put in a marker post.
Return view looking towards Butts
Nearby, on the Calderdale Way, some tricky footwork was required to cross a fallen wall.
Big improvement after rearranging the stones ... and time for a lunch break.
Further East, the Calderdale Way crosses a stream - or rather the stream crosses the Calderdale Way!
I remember working here many years ago and finding the route that the stream SHOULD be taking in the tunnel under the bridge (to the left of the photo below)
We did a lot of digging, but will have to come back to find the entrance.
Nearby, down Matthew Lane, we cleared some overgrown steps and replaced the rotten marker post with a waymark on the stile. We need to return to try and find a drain to take the water away.
Across the fields we put in a marker post to direct people down to the bridge below Pex Tenaments.
It was a long carry down Matthew Lane, so we were very lucky to have help from some friends of Ken who were passing!
Once again we will need to return to add the waymark!
Believe it or not, this post is truly vertical! |
Work funded (hopefully) by 'Calderdale Way' and 'There and Back' walks.
