OLDROYD & BIRD BANK WOOD, TODMORDEN

Eleanor, Gerald, Rich and Ken worked on a very neglected path which starts from Kilnhurst estate and finishes on Lumbutts Road.

The bottom section from the estate was cut back and waymarked.

The route through Oldroyd Farm was waymarked.

Not much indication where the paths are!

Marker post at the cross roads (it is vertical!)
Bottom section was cleared (with one section left to tackle)

Path completely overgrown with hawthorn and brambles.

Now all cleared.
Up in the woods, the route was waymarked and encroaching trees were cut back. Part of the path had dropped away so widening and levelling was needed.

A section of path very difficult to walk on

The path being levelled

Progress being made.
There is more work to do on this section. Two waymark posts are also needed.

Finally we fixed a gate and waymarked the route across the fields

We will be revisiting this path next Friday to finish the work.

When we have finished, please go and have a look - here is a map of this great path.

The work was funded by Calderdale Small Grants
