LANGFIELD COMMON & CRIMSWORTH DENE

Two teams today

Mick, RJ, Gerald and Fred  put in 7 marker posts on Tod 168 up from the information board on the Long  Causeway at Mankinholes, climbing to Langfield Common up to Withens Old Road (also known as the Long Drag).  The path position was identified using GPS
They then went up to Tod 158  (opposite the Shepherds' Rest) where two more posts were put in.

The long carry- in.

Easier to see.

Above the Shepherds' Rest.
The paths are now easier to follow.

Work funded by Calderdale Council Small Grants

CRIMSWORTH DENE - path to Lumb Falls

Bernard, Dick, Paul & Stuart spent all day clearing this very overgrown bridleway, ditching over the bridge and clearing the area around the seat overlooking the falls.
The vegetation and slippery causey stones made access difficult and dangerous.

Top section overgrown.

Paved section with encroaching vegetation; including a lot of nettles

Cutting back involved strimming, lopping, hedge-trimming and sawing. The path is now much more accessible but care is still needed because of the uneven and slippery surface.

Top section all strimmed

Paved section all cut back (hopefully, it will dry out quicker)

Work funded by individual donations.
