Adventurous walkers still attempt this path, but others avoid it for the reasons below!
Too narrow
Overgrowing brambles
Overgrown holly
Fallen signposts.
However, after a day's hard work in the drizzle . . . .
. . . . the holly and brambles were cut back, the path widened and steps put in to make walking it easier . . . .
. . . . and Steve and Ian replaced 3 waymark posts.
These are some photos of the work Gerald, Nigel and Eleanor did by the river
There was a very decent drain designed to take water away from the path. Unfortunately most of the water was pouring down the side of the drain from a separate spring nearby and flowing down the path.
Nigel did a simple but natty repair and the water immediately reverted back through the drain.
The rest of the day was spent cutting back holly and scraping mud off the path, much to the appreciation of passing walkers.
Job done, well at least until next winter !
Many thanks to Lynda for organising the job and to Rishworth Environmental Group for providing the cakes! Thanks also to Hebden Bridge Beer Festival for providing most of the funding!
