ADVERSE WEATHER TASKS!

No work parties out on site today! Although the valley road was completely clear, ice made side-roads and tracks up to the Gaddings and Erringden areas particularly treacherous.
However Frank H, Gerald and Ray spent a few hours at the depot in Mytholmroyd on a variety of in-house tasks.

Frank H and Ray cut a supply of risers and stobs (for steps) to replenish our diminishing stock.

Rack full of 0.72 m x 100 mm x 50 mm and
 0.72 m x 100 mm x 50 mm risers.
Why 0.72 m length of riser? The timber comes in 3.6 m lengths. Divide this by 5!

Gerald cleaned and re-stocked all items in the on-site kits and 'buckets'.

Stobs (in lower rack) cut to 0.60 m.
Above this the rucksacks containing waymarking materials, first aid kits etc.
Why 0.60 m stobs? The poles come in 1.80 m lengths. Divide this by 3!

The workbench donated by Irene from Cornholme (thank you, Irene) has now got a new top and has been fixed to floor and wall to give a stable working surface. Here's Gerald in action:

Re-furbished bench with unre-furbished Gerald!

Ray and Gerald then went on to cut and shape some 1.50 m x 100 mm x 100 mm marker posts.

Ray marking-up the timber for cutting.

Gerald smoothing the rough edges of a marker post.
The fixed bench he is using was recently constructed by Frank H.
All three then went on to clean and sharpen numerous tools (Mmm! Wonder who left some of them in such a muddy state?), fix a loose tool rack and lag some exposed pipework before sweeping up!
Not the most exciting of days but these infrastructure tasks are essential to help future outdoor jobs run smoothly.
